Importance of the European Social Model

The European Social Model concerns a set of policies and practices adopted by the countries of the European Union (EU) to promote social well-being and the protection of citizens' rights.

It encompasses a variety of policies related to areas such as employment, education, health, social security and workers' rights. Policies aim to guarantee equal opportunities, social justice, inclusion and social cohesion in European societies. The model emphasises the importance of the welfare state, in which the government plays an active role in providing public services and protecting citizens' rights.
